The Vera Wang Story

Vera Wang is one of the most prominent bridal wear designers in North America. She is known best for her ability to seamlessly balance modern designs with traditional elegance. Spoiler alert: We now carry Vera Wang!
Vera was born in New York City on June 27, 1949 to two affluent Chinese immigrants. She had a relatively privileged life growing up on Manhattan's Upper East Side however rejection hit her hard when she attempted to compete in the 1968 Olympics as a professional figure skater but unfortunately, didn't make the cut. 

In 1971 she hung up her skates and began working for Vogue magazine. In just under a year, at age 23, she was promoted to senior fashion editor and stayed there for the next 15 years. Always looking for a new challenge, Vera left Vogue to take a swing at designing accessories for Ralph Lauren, she of course did that brilliantly as well.

It wasn't until she decided to design her own wedding gown in 1989, at the age of 40, that she discovered her passion for bridal. A year later she quit her job at Ralph Lauren and in 1990, opened her own bridal boutique in the upscale Carlyle Hotel on Madison Avenue in New York City. The Vera Wang Bridal House originally catered primarily to celebrities and socialites by offering couture gowns by designers like Carolina Herrera and Christian Dior. However over the next few years, Wang honed in on her skills as a fashion designer and launched a signature collection of sophisticated bridal wear.

Vera Wang has been honoured with several accolades for her achievements. She has paved her path toward success with her utmost sense of confidence and never-give-up attitude.
